mg ↔ International Units (IU) Dose Converter
Free · EducationalConvert doses between milligrams and International Units for therapeutic peptides and proteins (hGH, hCG, insulin, FSH, HMG, LH).
Equivalent result
mg value equivalent to the IU dose entered
How the conversion is done
mg = IU ÷ factor — same equivalence applied in reverse. The factor depends on the molecule, not on the specific commercial batch.
Why does the factor differ between molecules?
The International Unit (IU) is defined by regulatory bodies (WHO / NIBSC) based on biological activity — not on mass. The IU/mg ratio for each molecule comes from comparison, in a standardized bioassay, against the international reference preparation. That is why hGH (3 IU/mg) and hCG (10,000 IU/mg) have very different factors despite both being injectable proteins.
Essential notice
This tool is strictly educational. Factors reflect average biological equivalences described in WHO international standards and labels of the main commercial presentations. Specific batches may show small variations. This does NOT constitute medical prescription — any decision about dose, frequency, indication or switching between presentations requires individualized clinical evaluation by a licensed professional. Always check the product label and consult the treating physician.
